I'm looking for a stroker kit for my 351w in my 4x4 van. It will see hwy miles mostly on snow and ice. Not looking for a high RPM mustang kit. Anyone have a line on a good kit?
Thanks
Try Probe Industries, or Ford Racing Performance Parts(F.R.P.P. lists theirs as being '392'cid,but it's real displacement is closer to 393.8 cid.Part # for complete engine assembly is M-6007-A392(serpentine water pump),or,M-6007-D392(V-belt water pump). They also offer a short block kit(part # M-6009-A392),a stroker kit(part # M-6013-B392),or just a 392 stroker crankshaft(part # M-6303-A385).That might be the most cost effective way to go.To get '392' cid it requires a .030" over 351W block. This crank has a 3.85" stroke.main journal diameter is 3.000"(same as 351W),with 2.311" rod journal diameter,1.690" rod journal width. The catalog says "for use in 1971-1996 351W blocks, can be used with stock rods and 302 pistions".It also requires balancing.I don't have the Probe Industries catalog in front of me,so I don't have the specs,or price of their kit(s), but I would contact both places.Hope this helps.
A 393 stroker kit??? I know that companies sell 393 stroker kits but the question is why buy one???
3.85" stroker cranks sell on ebay for about $330. The pistons are off-the-shelf 302 pistons. And the rods are stock 351 rods. I suppose the trick to this combination is getting the compression ratio right but that depends on your heads.
