is it sooting, or maybe a fine oily film? Rons right if it is sooting, but if it is a little oily, then it may be ccv gases coming out of a loose boot, or the o-rings on the doghouse may be gone.
Bdrummonds,
What is the doghouse? Never heard it put that way before. Thanks Tom[/QUOTE]
Tom, the dog house I am refering to is the CCV dog house on the rear or the drivers side valve cover, there are two orings underneath it. If they are bad you can see some oily film, and smoke in your engine compartment. Now, it is not soot, like what would be on your finger if you touched the inside of your tail pipe, but it is a dust magnet. As Ron said earlier soot would come from an exhaust leak, if it is soot then check your v clamp on your down pipe, and also make sure there is no leak on the back of the turbo at the collector where your two up pipes meet.
