I have been having a problem with my AC. It has the auto temp feature, but sometimes it won't even come on. It doesn't show a temp, nothing, just blank. You can turn air on in the back, but it's not cold of course because the AC isn't on. You can't turn it to manual, nothing. Then, a day later, it's on again and works fine. I figured there was a loose wire somewhere but haven't found it yet. It's definately a on and off thing, and it either works or it doesn't, and it's totally random Any ideas?
I am having the exact same issue with mine. It occurs at random and under no conditions that I can figure out. Once you start the truck and it does not turn on, it will not come on, no matter how much you drive it. Sometimes if I would turn it off and then restart it, the climate control might work. I experience this problem in all weather warm and cold and it drives me crazy! All that i can figure is that it must be a relay or something thats not energizing sometimes when the ignition is cranked or started. I hope someone will chime in and help us both!
Check your owner's manual for the fuse and rely chart. The little red 10 amp fuse that controls the EATC is fuse #28 5th one down from the top of the right most row of fuses. This fuse could be loose. Also the relay #306 the "Delayed accessory relay" maybe going bad. There are 6 square relays in the middle of the fuse panel and #306 is bottom right.
I was really hoping it would be something like that, but in the end, it was the AETC with a total bill right at $700 bucks. Ouch! And they wonder why I never bring any of my vehicles to the dealer for service.
I was having this sporadic issue too and I think I read on this forum somewhere that it is also tied in with the headlight switch. I quit using the autolamp feature and it hadn't happened in a very long time. BUT yesterday, wouldn't you know it, as soon as I tell a guy at lunch I haven't had the problem I go to start it at the end of the work day and it did it!
Anyway, I remembered the trick was something like 1) shut down the vehicle, 2) turn your light switch on, 3) turn your light switch off, 4) turn on the ignition. Sure enough...it came back on. You might have to search for the actual 'procedure' but that's basically what I did and it worked.
BTW...dealer wanted quite a bit to change it, but I said 'no thanks'. I've heard of people getting their units swapped out and still having the issue. I'll run it until the 'procedure' doesn't work or it happens all the time.
