Do I need to worry about leaving the X in the sun all day?
Guys, I have my X parked in the sun all day long and I was wondering how much the damage the sun REALLY does on the dash and other things and should I keep it in the shade even though this means parking under a tree?
What about tree sap and stuff like that?
Also, is there something I should use on the dash to protect it?
The guy that detailed my truck says Mcgwires or something like that but I don't really know.
THanks
George

A few things....
First, I use these in my Ex as it sits parked quite a bit over the summer. These cover the front door windows and windshield. They fit great, are easy to put in and make a huge difference with heat and blocking light. (And, with the other windows being tinted..you really don;t need shades for those windows)

Bird-bombs. Yep, can be very acidic and could eat through your paint if left on long enough. Interestingly, the white kind is not as bad as the brown kind.
Also, waxes and other sealants are of little use to protect against this type of acidic damage. Maybe in the short term if you are able to wipe it off quickly enough. I keep a bottle of a cheap detail spray in each car to clean those types of mess off right away.
A little off topic here....I can get into detail if someone wants, but "wax" like carnaubas just don;t last long in the elements. A better choice is a product like Zaino, which is a synthetic sealant that outlasts other waxes, and contains a UV gaurd.
