A Grandfather needs some help!
I had one back in the late 70's that my oldest son and I spent many wonderful evenings working on it. I gave it to my oldest son as a present for his High School graduation .... 3 months later he was killed in it by a drunk driver.
I rebuilt it for and with my other Son, it was a great source of healing for the two of us.
Sadly It was stolen NEVER to be seen again.
This Son, my last one, was killed in the first Desert Storm. I am now a widower and I am raising his two son's, their mother passed away from cancer 1 1/2 years ago.
I want so much to buy another Panel for us, as the 1960 Panel was a very speical part of my sons and my life. I want to help my grandsons get past their mother and fathers death by having a project we can work on durning this trying days
Could anyone perhaps please tell me if they have one they would consider selling to me? Or maybe point me towards someone who might have one for sale? I would very much be interested if I could afford it. We are in Seattle Wa.
(NOTE)Budman, I do not know how to reach you. Could I maybe talk to you about yours?
Thank you for any and all responds to my questions.

AHHHH. A Senior User! Chuckling here because one almost has to be a Senior to know how easy it is to turn lemons into lemonade!
Thanks you for your responce and suggestion.
I had not really thought about the classifieds since it would cost a bunch to get as much couverage as I can on the net. But I will look into that!
As to how far would I go? I guess I will just have to go as far as needed to bring one home. Hopefully I could get one that I and the boys could drive it. Could be a wonderful memory file adventure for the Grandsons and I.
And yes, would you please look around for one back there.
Thanks from

I drove 14 hours each way to get mine. Others have crossed the country. I towed mine home on a dolly even though it was a running truck. I didn't want to take chances of it breaking down one me. Plus I was in comfort. A/C power brakes, cruise, tilt, etc. for the long trip.
I can't imagine what you and your family have been through and you have my deepest sympathy. I went thru a cancer situation with my then 4 yr old grandson for about 18 mts and it was the worst time I've spent on this earth. Grateful is this granddaddy that it had a positive outcome and he's fine...
As for the panel I can't help personally but offer these suggestions... as Joe said... scan Ebay. Try Craiglist.com for your region. Scour the e-net with google or yahoo... try different search engines as sometimes you get different results, and try different phrases... i.e. "60 ford panel truck" "panel truck for sale" "1960 ford panel" Sometimes one word will make a difference. You'll have to dig thru all the returns, but might find it.
Find some local clubs and get them looking for you.. when they hear the story, they will help. I've never seen a rod club that wouldn't bend over backwards to help is a situation like this.
There are also other forums of street rodders that could turn one up... do a google on 'street rod forums' and you'll find them or pm me and I'll send you some. Again, tell them the history and the reason for the search. A letter to the editor of Custom Truck or Custom Classic Truck that gets printed in the mag's "readers comments" will get you nationwide coverage.
It might take a little hand work on the keyboard..but I bet you can find one from your den. When you do... make it an adventure, take the g'sons on the retrieval trip... take pictures and keep a journal.. not just on the truck but also on the hotel stops and the bad food and the three hundred bathroom stops and the expression on the boys faces when they saw it the first time. THIS is what build memories and bonds you to them forever. My daughter (now 35) every so often will bring up some trip or outing we took 25 years ago that I vagely remembered and tell me details about things I that didn't even remember seeing... kids see things from a totally different perspective and usually in much more detail than adults. I got a totally different view of truck stop restrooms from her
.. Enjoy this quest with them... they will be teenagers soon and turn against you !!! But they will change later... they'll remember the fun you had and choose a really nice nursing home for you !!
good luck on your project
John
I will be praying for you and your grandkids.

Sorry to hear of your difficult times.
I don't have leads for you but your project does bring to mind in my teens, I drove my dad's 60 panel on weekends. (full of paint cans, brushes, ladders and all.
Good luck with your quest, and project with your grandsons.

My deepest sympathy for the losses you have suffered. I hope the restoration of an old panel truck brings much joy into you and your grandchildren's lives. All of you very much deserve it.
I have been restoring a 59 panel for a couple of years. I was born in 59 so it is a special model to me. I also have a 59 T-Bird and a 59 stepside, so you can tell I am pretty fond of that era. The grill and side emblems are a little different than the 60, but not much. The trucks have 223's(both run great)
My dilemma is I have got to make space in the garage for a 1930 Model A. Would you be interested in 59 models(the panel exterior is finished, but the step needs some bodywork)? If so, I would let you have either of them for just what I have in them. You can contact me at richard.risinger@comcast.net.
Once again, my condolences,
Sincerely,
Del Risinger
I'm very sorry about all of your losses. You sound like a great parent, one which anyone would be lucky to have.
My advice regarding your search for a panel would be to check Craigslist and the Seattle PI classifieds. Lots of old Fords in Seattle and Portland, so check PDX, too. I picked up my '53 from a gentlemen up by Everett. You also might want to go by XXX Burger in Issaquah (I think). Great food, too! Lots of classic car/truck stuff, and you might run into some old car buffs or hot rodders that know of a panel for sale.
Good luck, keep us posted, and Godspeed...
Matt
