soliniod wiring

hello, i have a 1988 f-250 351, any way it was a old fire truck and they used the soliniod to power the hose reel. and was wondering if any one has a diagraim to see where all the wires go. the only maybe problem i am having is first thing in the morning the radio lost all memory but the rest of the day it retains all memory.

The starter solenoid is a common place to pull power from no matter what the application.
I think I would look at the Radio and it’s wiring.

if your losing the memory on the radio....(turn off it forgets presets and time.) you are having a radio wiring issue. radio should have a constant to battery lead and a ignition lead.....use a test light to find both and you should be good to go.

Not sure what you mean by two small post and they put everything on one post.

There should be one wire on one small post (S), a red wire with a blue stripe.
The large post with the battery cable on it will have any number of small wires on it with the big cable to feed various applications.
The other large post usually just has one wire on it going to the starter.

Click here for a diagram of some of the connections to the starter solenoid.

thank you you are right, i thought it had two small post, guess i had a brain freeze. any way, after reading i looked at it again they apperently used some of the wires for there own application and spliced them, so i will fix them better since i know that it is right. they just twisted the wires and electrical taped them together, so i will crimp rings and reattach them. at least it will look nicer.
