thanks btw great site.
If you are sure it is an electrical problem, the electronic pick up inside the distributor is the only thing you haven't replaced yet. I would also check all the underhood wiring connections associated with the ignition circuit for clean contacts and secure connections.
I've also experienced the same results with a fuel delivery problem that ended up being a clogged filter and sediments in the fuel tank that would block off the fuel pick up tube in the tank. When the truck shut off and sat for a while, the crud would settle back down and I could drive the vehicle for a few miles more. Easy way to check is when the truck shuts down, take the top off the breather and flip the throttle lever while looking in the top of the carb and see if you get a good shot of fuel. If you get fuel, you have pretty much eliminated that as a source of the problem.
thanks hdgapeach, I'm on my way to check the fuel flow , the electrical connections are average at best but I can deal with them, knowing what to check or replace is the battle . thanks
I have the exact same problem and replaced the same parts. wanted to know if you ever solved the problem? Thanks e-mail sarah36mo@msn.com 01-12-2005 7:06pm
