My ex-wife made a comment to a woman in her AA meeting accusing me of being a bad parent.It just so happens that that woman is married to a friend of mine,and that is how I found out what she said.It figures,she is so stupid,she cant see the forest for the trees.So here,let me spill the facts.Then you decide who is the better parent.And feel free to post about your own parenting and your children.

Ok,here are the facts.

Being the pig that she was,she left me for another guy 26yrs ago when my daughters were 3 and 4yrs old.The father of that guy raped both my daughters when they were 5 and six.But she did not get my daughters out of that enviroment for two more years,until the pervert raped his own blood granddaughter and they pressed charges.My ex didnt believe my 5 and 6yr old daughters!Thought they only wanted attention!So,she finally divorces him and then becomes a drunk who slept with anything that moved.My daughters both dropped out of school,the oldest turned into a meth head,then an alcoholic and ended up killing her husband in a drunk driving wreck.The other daughter works in a strip club.Now that is what I call FINE parenting!
Me,I was not allowed to see them or have any contact with them,because I was a bouncer in a bar and got in a lot of fights,so she used that against me,saying she was afraid of me!But yet,I NEVER EVER laid a hand on her,or ANY woman for that matter.I have had women hit me from behind with a beerbottle while tossing their boyfriend out the door,but never touched them!Anyway,I moved on.I started a family.A nice sized family,two girls,two boys.The oldest,a girl,graduated H.S.joined the U.S.A.F.and is now a military cop,and a Sargent also!The second,a boy,Graduated H.S.and is leaving for the Navy on friday.Third,a girl,A-B student,well liked by everybody.And last but not least,a boy.Top of his class,Straight A`s,scored as one of the highest on the state education tests!Awards out the,,,And they have ALWAYS had a stable home,one mom,one dad!And Im the bad parent!Geez!

On the serious side, good that you moved on to be the good parent you are.

Concrats on raising your fine children.

As for me, not a parent, and was married......once, which is twice more than I wanted.

My ex-wife and I are good friends.

 

I made the mistake of taking my youngest sons test results to the fire station and showing them to my fellow firefighters.They all started teasing my about how smart he was,asking me if he was adopted,or if I was sure he was mine.Yup,I am positive he is mine!All of the children I manufacture have blond hair and blue eyes just like me!Well except for my oldest son,he has brown eyes like his mom.But he still looks like me!Poor kid!

 

He'll grow out of that.

No King, I sure don't think you were the bad parent.If fact it sounds as if you did pretty well.I'm sorry to hear how things turned out for your oldest daughters.It seems as if you were another on the never ending list of victims of family court.No matter what the facts show the end result is almost always the same.The father is scum and the mother can do no wrong.I've often wondered if the qualifications for family court judges required that they live in a bubble with no contact to the real world.A bouncers job is rough but it's just that.A job.You get paid to keep the peace and if things get out of hand then you do what you have to to restore order.Not being allowed to see your kids because of your occupation is bull***t.I'd bet if a family court judge got divorced they would never be told any such thing.They can trash peoples lives and create emotional scars that may never heal but it's okay because they are just doing their job.

When I got divorced I never set foot in a court room.My ex was running around and spending way more than I made.Problem was while she was "out with her friends" our daughter was hanging out with dad.Ex was smart enough to figure out if she tried to deny me visitation kiddo was going to raise holy h***.After a few arguments she also decided to settle child support out of court.I have no problem with paying support I do however have a problem with the system used to calculate the amount.My ex, W.W. ( short for wicked witch) is also smart enough to realize just how easy it would have been for me to take a low paying part time job on the books and be working under the table for cash.I did take steps to make sure she can't decide to haul me to court claiming I never paid her anything.

My daughter is now 13 and still thinks dad is cool.She comes to visit every weekend. I show up at every school function she is involved in.

 

Are your daughters ok now or do they sort of have "issues" about what they went threw?

 

I sure am glad to hear that you get to see your little girl Redcat.That way she will always see first hand what kind of dad you really are.My two oldest daughters refuse to have anything to do with me,I cant really blame them though,after 20 some years of listening to their mothers B.S.My third oldest has tried to talk to them and convince them that I am not a bad dad and that I never hit her mom in the 25 years that she has been around,but no matter how hard she tried,or I tried,or even the little woman tried to convince them that what they were told growing up was B.S.they choose to blame me for their poor childhood.Now I am to the point where I will just move on,if they choose to not have a relationship with me after living with their mother and seeing first hand what a pig she was.then it is their loss.

 

My ex tried that crap with my son. Fill his head with all kinds of false things about me. She is very controlling, and likes to have the upper hand. The only saving grace is my son is to smart for that nonsense. My son was 13 when the ex and I split up. Thank god he was old enough to remember the good about me. I can't deny how much he loves his mother, but the best part is, he loves me just as much. Now he is 24 and has a gf that wants to meet me in the worst way. That to me says something.

Unless she heard I was a cute drunk.

 

My stepson is a great kid. I've raised him since he was 3.We had some really rough times during his teenage yrs. Its hard to be a stepdad sometimes. His father deserted him. He never paid one cent in child support. His dad was a drug dealer,thief & scam artist. I finally got his mom to let him meet his dad when he was around 15.I knew his not knowing the truth about his dad was one of his biggest problems. All he ever heard about him was the bad things his mom told him. Once he met his dad & learned the truth he lost the anger that was eating him up. He visited his dad a few times but he saw through him quick.They kept in touch but he never became close to the guy. He came to me later & told me he appreciated my letting him meet his dad. He also said he considered me to be his father because I was the man who raised him. I feel the same way about him.He is my son. We work at the same company. He has worked his way up through the place fast. He started the job in the warehouse unloading trucks. He is in sales now. I'm very proud of him.

 

Gee Lariat,that is cool!I have to give you alot of credit.It takes one heck of a man to accept somebody elses child.I know,my dad is a stepdad.But he has always loved me as if I were his!

 

I couldn't love my son anymore if he was my blood kin. We become closer all the time. He & I share many hobbies & spend lots of our free time together. David is a good young man.

 

I've got two girls with the ex. The oldest has always said she was coming to live with her daddy as soon as she could. At the age of nine I took the ex back to court to try and get custody of them both. Didn't work out but my case is still open. Then 2 months ago the ex calls up and wants the oldest to come stay the summer and stated that she thought she was old enough(11) to make up her own mind where she wants to live. Well I am now getting custody and she is so happy to be with her daddy! Only one more to go!

 

Judging by the end results, I must be a great (or very Lucky) parent. They (boy and girl) have always been a source of pride for me. Now they have given me seven to be a grandfather to.

 

In Tenn a child can decide what parent at age 12.

 

dang KT did we have the same ex? when i get my boys i try to drill a good work ethic and manners into them they all get ticked at me but they allways want to come back,even tho vidio game arnt alowed here
