Ive decided I want subs but I'm stuck.. I got an 04 Superduty Crew Cab.. I have metal racks under my seat that I don't want to loose.. I have standard back glass..
I can't decide on 3 10's which the box would cover the entire back behind the seat.. Where would I put the amps then? I want one pushing the subs and one pushing the door speakers..
Or.. 2 10's with the box only covering half the back with it positioned on the drivers side of the back seat and the two amps mounted to the wall on the passenger side..
Would 2 10's give off decent bass? I'm nto a hardcore thumper.. just want a little something so my music sounds good..
Believe me, and from your description, you do NOT want, nor need 2 10" subs. I have one JL Audio, 10W7, up firing, mounted in a Pro Box Rocks box, under the drivers side rear seat, and it alone makes my nose hair vibrate. 500 watts is more than plenty in a SCREW. .02

no room to mount a w7in a cc superduty with out having a HUGE box.
I found a 6x9 that is as good as any 10 in sub I have heard. I know it sounds crazy, but I heard them in a pro audio shop and they where great. When I add bass to my system I will be using them, they are from Cadence and are perfect if you don't want to take up much space.
Storm, what I did in my 01 250 was remove the center console between the two front seats and built a sub box out of mdf, then I recovered it with some foam and put the factory cloth back on top. I used a JL 12w6 in that truck and it was plenty loud. If you want to go to the extreme, then a 10w7 or a 12w7 will rattle your brain for sure. Its just a matter of how much you want to spend. Also, If i remember correctly, you were having issues with your center console already, so just get rid of it and put your bass in, have it upholstered, and you'll be rockin!
I think two will be more than enough Storm. I had one 10" image dynamics in my old extended cab and it was plenty loud. I just haven't got around to putting it in my new truck yet.
2 10 JL's pound super hard... and where to mount the amps, i had that problem when i put 2 12's hegind the seat of my 78. i mounted my amp on the head liner, looked awsome and was quite the eye catcher and i heard many ooo's and awww's from it. my brother has a 03 superduty crewcab with 2 12's. he mouned his amp bewteen the boxes behind his seat but he has a alpine digital amp and its super small and u can mount it anywhere and it pushes loads of power. if u get one of those amps or 2 of those amps (one fore doors, one for subs) then u wont have to worry really about room and where to mount them.
If size is a problem I've heard a single 8W7 before and I was amazed at how hard it was hitting, and it doesn't need a whole bunch of room either (.875ft^3 for sealed, or 1ft^3 for ported +/- 10%). The great thing about the W7's (of course) is their SQ paired with SPL.. and you won't find that in a whole bunch of drivers.
I added you on yahoo (jromedajtplane) if you'd like some immediate answers (if I'm online of course, haha), I'm not on the forums all the time. It's been a while since I've been in the forums but I used to be really active in here trying to help out.. maybe I'll stay a while this time.
