Truck box

Does any one use the Kobalt truck box in their trucks?
I was looking at boxes and the Kobalt is about $275 and other brands are over $400 the Kobalt one I was looking is made in the US and looks good.
I just dont know why some other brands are so much more?
Thanks ~Gage~

Check the guage of the aluminum. Some are heavier than others. The thinner ones dent fairly easily.
The latches and lock cylinders are another thing to check. Get the heavy duty ones if they're going to see a lot of use.

as far as I know, the company that makes the Kobalt truck boxes makes the ones for Husky, as well... the name of that company is Better Built... myself, I'm gonna buy the one youre mentioning... these boxes held up pretty good in my ranger, where I would stand on the lid and whatnot... personally, I'm looking for a black tool chest, so I might go for the husky, even if I do work for Lowes, haha... FWIW, the latches/locks on the chests with the side buttons work a lot better than the ones on the inside of the bed (the chest opened on several occasions when off-roading)...

I found that the box I had that was made by Husky to be serviceable as far as holding all the crap that my truck seems to accumulate, but the latches and locks were of, at best, dubious quality. Especially when struck with a sledge... the lock popped right out of the metal. (don't ask.)

I bought a Rawson Koenig for my SD, and I'm MUCH happier with both the construction and the latch/lock quality. The price was nearly 3x the price of the Husky, but I gladly paid it for the better quality.

I have a Weather Guard All Purpose Chest similar to a 5th wheel box.It has held up real well over the last 3 years. Looked so nice after that time, that I will put it in the new truck.
Black powder coat blends in real well with the spray in liner. Cost me about $400.00.

Gage2502-
I have a Husky-only because it was given to me as a present shortly after I got the truck. As Frankenbiker said, it's serviceable...and I can't toss out a gift.
The Weatherguard is of much better construction (box, latches, locks, etc.), but they cost about twice as much as a Husky.
