Found out the Kobalt is made in china, which im sure all tool cabinets in my price range are. I was looking at the craftsman 6 drawer also. Craftsman 6-Drawer Roll-Away, 26-1/2 in. Wide, Ball Bearing - Model 59615 at Sears.com Im gonna go to sears and see if this model is on display. Any opinions?

I have one similar to this model and really like it. It operates real smooth and easy. I have the bottom, middle and top cabinets. I also have the cheaper Sears and they are okay, you just cant load the drawers up like you can with the ball bearing drawers.

Thanks Chaosracing.
I stopped by sears and found out that tool cabinet is made by waterloo. At least I think it is. there was a stamping on the side about how the design of the boxes structure is by waterloo.
Couldnt find where it was made thou.

I talked to the shops snap-on guy. He has a kra2007 rolling cabinet for $600. KRA2007, Roll Cab, 7 Drawers, Red

I have looked at the craftsman, kobalt and others, they usually weigh in about 105lbs while the snapon weighs 170lbs. Where can snapon be adding 65lbs of metal to a tool box?

thicker gauge of steel, and thicker frame material.

you drop a cheap cabinet drawer, and it bends. you drop a snap on drawer, and it clunks.

I was in Lowes yesterday and noticed the kobalt tool boxes, the ones at this lowes were SS, one of them was pretty big and cost 1600+ dollars and all the tool boxes were 20% off, the Tool box looked way cool and I thought it would be nice to update from my old craftsman tool boxes. There was another guy there looking at the same time he was thinking the same as i was, about updating from the old craftsman boxes we each had had for many years. When i extended the drawers they had alot of lateral movement, (like they didnt have suport on one side of the drawers, I didnt think they were all that and sure as heck were not put together very good, the drawers were pretty sloppy. we both left with the same decision to keep our old craftsman boxes.....
now this is just my opinion and others may feel the box is of good quality.

My son wanted me to get the one there with the built in radio and fridge. since I have no room for anything that big, I didn't even look at it.

I'd talk to the local tool truck drivers about repo boxes- Might be able to get a huge deal.

I bought one of the stainless Kobalt units and have been very happy with it. Wherever you decide to purchase I would encourage you to inspect it before you leave. The kobalt chest I bought came in a fairly sturdy cardboard box. Turns out when I got home and opened the box the unit had been damaged on one corner although you couldn't really tell from the box. I went back to the store and they pulled another one down and same thing. All 4 units had some type of shipping damage. One was purely cosmetic and in the back so I negotiated a pretty good deal on that one. Just something to look out for.
