Y-pipe sound
I'm thinking of replacing the muffler on my 00 F-150 5.4 with a y-pipe and then 45's out each side. I plan on keeping the cats stock. Would this setup sound good? I don't want real loud just a little rumble. What size of pipe and tips should I use also?

You might as well use 2, since they are not the best flowing muffler out there. Normally I would say to use a single muffler before the Y pipe.
Go with the same size pipe after the Y or 1 size smaller. Tips are your choice.

good mufflers for just rumble would be maybe a large body Magnaflow. Dynomax makes a few good quite mufflers that sound pretty nice. Larger bodied Flowmasters like the 50 or 70 series may get you the effect you want.
This is really a hard question to answer, because everyone has their own opinions, so it really depends on the exact sound you are going for. It may not be the freest flowing, but I'd go for the Flowmaster myself. I just like their sound.
