I have a exhaust leak on my 2003 F250 V10 4x4. It is were the manifold connects to the y-pipe. I guess the y-pipe is a dealer only part that's around $400ish. Is it possible to recondition the flared end of the y-pipe without replacing it? Or could I cut the y-pipe, weld on a new flared end?
There are no aftermarket complete Y-pipe replacements to my knowledge.(Not without replacing the manifolds) The aftermarket y-pipes are just a small section that replaces the necked down portion of the stock y-pipe. Most well equipped exhaust shops can flare exhaust pipe to mate to the ball connector flange on the stock exhaust manifolds. These trucks are also known to snap exhaust manifold studs that can cause an exhaust leak so make sure there are no exhaust leaks at the manifolds from broken studs. Headers like from Banks and Doug Thorley replace the stock exhaust manifolds and the entire y-pipe up to the triangular flange right before the cat. That is another option.
