Lately I have seen a large number of 250 and 350's with 450 and 550 badges on them. Is their a real point, Or is it just to fool some unknowing person?
I have also seen where someone took a SRW 350 and converted to DRW. They left the front the same, so it is really obvious. Is their a point to this?
lol, first thing I did when I got my F-250 was to hit the dirt and see how much of a pig it was off-road... nothing like my ranger, thats for sure, but it can do quite a bit for a 3/4 ton truck...

Nope.
I remember before I got my EZ-pass (electronic toll payments) that the toll-collector would look out the door at whether I had an F250 or a 350 - a 350 got a double toll, because it was certainly way past the 7500lbs cutoff.
So re-badging yourself can be a problem - especially when your registration says F250 and your fender says F450 - should be good for the occasional state-trooper-sponsored VIN inspection

They probably wouldn't buy it if you put F-150 badges on your truck......or worse.
Living out here in West Texas you get lots of rich ranch boys with 1/2 tons and big 37 inch swampers lifted a foot straight up... and all the old cotton farmers drive stock trucks with regular sized mud grips on em. honestly, any lift that gets more than a 33 inch tire is almost entirely cosmetic, especially when the tire's load rating destroys away any chance you had of hauling stuff. besides, theres not a hill for 100 miles around this place, stock clearance is enough for almost anything.
And i dunno about ya'll but there are a lot of real 550/650s out here.. the 650s look like an international stake bed, just a lot shorter, so theres no way its just a rebadged 350.
I Think stuff like this has been going on since there were badges on cars and trucks. Remove ,change, exchange ect.. Back in the 90's it was very popular to put the then new Superduty badges from the 450's on 250 and 350's. I also remember some guy put 440 stickers on his 400 Trans-am shaker back in the 70's ?
