I was wondering if there is any special procedure to get these buttons out. I thought i would ask here before I go try it myself, just because of the airbag in there somewhere!
Im jsut trying to get the buttons out to clean them. Last time I was back home I ended up spilling abit of a beverage in there, and i would just like to get in spick and span again!
just the button?? you can take that out of the end of the shift lever without taking the hole lever out..some times the plastic ring on the very end will brake..dealer has the button and ring for around 20 to 25 bucks.
Yeah Im talking about the cruise control button, not the overdrive one. I was just curious if anyone has done this before, or has a breakdown of what it would involve.
I sure would hate to trigger that air bag somehow lol.
Generally, airbags can be deactivated by disconnecting the batteries and waiting for five minutes or so...can't say if this is the case with the PSD, but it has been on other vehicles I have worked on.
ON EDIT: Disconnect battery and then wait for a few minutes...that should do it: From the service manual: The ECS includes an internal backup power supply. This feature provides sufficient backup power to deploy the air bags in the event the battery or battery cables are damaged in a collision before the safing and air bag sensors close. The backup power supply will deplete its stored energy approximately 1 minute after the battery ground cable is disconnected
