I know this has been discussed in older threads but when i try to look at pics in older post i can get the pics to open, My horn problem is when i have the horn button off the wheel, i ground the tab the horn button plugs into and the horn works, So i assume everything from there out is working.but when i plug in the horn button it does not work, It makes me think something may be missing on the horn button. any pics or any help would be greatly appreciated.
On the stock wheel there are two strips of metal that run through the rubber part to complete the ground to blow the horn.
On an after market wheel like the one I have, a Grant GT, I had to scrap off some of the coating (paint) on the flat part of the steering wheel where the disk that the wire plugs into makes contact to make the horn blow. It wasn't getting a good metal on metal contact, so sanding the paint off the steering wheel gave it a good metal contact. Of course all of this is hidden when you put the horn button back on.
I assumed that when i ground the tab on the wheel and the horn works, everything from the wheel out was working , i can be wrong , I do not understand how the horn button could complete the circuit ,unless when it gets screwed to the wheel it grounds for the switch to complete the circuit, my truck is 1977 and no cruise control

Your Horn pad should have two wires. One leading into the pad from the Horn Relay, and one leading out to ground.
These are being reproduced if interested in getting a new one...
You also might be able to repair your old one, if one of the wires is missing, by taking off the rubber cover and looking at where the wires are soldered into the "black rubber strip switch" inside.
