folks
can anyone tell me the power ratings for a STOCK 1974 lincoln 460?
also, I have a chance to get a 400/C6 out of a wrecked 1974 mercury...is this a good combo performance wise? the motor and tranny work flawlessly

This source book has two ratings : 215(net)@4,000rpm for Continental models,and 220(net)@4,000rpm for Mark IV models. Torque is listed as 357 lb./ft.@2,400rpm. For a performance build-up,I would pick the 460 vs. the 400. Some people have built some nice street 400s,but there is no substitute for cubic inches,and the 460 is an easy engine to build for lotsa power.Plus, a lot of aftermarket pieces are available for the 460.
