hay yall,
when i bought my truck a month back i wanted to service it.
found p.o. service records in glovebox it said ( change oil and filter ,clean air filter) called dealership with air filter part # they said it was $96. it looks just the A.I.S. system on diesel power products web page. my question is how can i tell if this is a factory set up or after market. also if it is A.I.S. is the filter washable. the filter looks like foam on the inside not paper or cotton.
Well, as far as I know there is only the Ford AIS, no aftermarket filters or filterboxes that are AIS. Someone purchased the filterbox/filter as a kit and installed it before you bought the truck. You are lucky, there is no better filtration for your truck. The AIS filter IS NOT washable, but will easily last 30,000-50,000 miles depending on conditions driven in. You can get the filter in the $60-$70 range from our sponsors...do not pay the dealer $100 for it. I don't know what you mean by "the filter looks like foam on the inside not paper or cotton." The filter element should be about 6" deep (thick)..is yours?

i don't really know how to describe the filter media. yes it is about 6" deep, blue paper on the outside, and when you look at the top or bottom of the filter it looks like compressed foam or something. it is not paper or cotton media.
yes it looks just like that, that picture is an exact match to every component on my truck right down to the sticker on the lid. AIS severe duty kit part # FA-1759 the parts guy said my filter # crossed over to part # FA-1757. does anyone run the fender sleeve with this likes or dislikes?
I'm way out on dirt roads, so I did not do the fender sleeve (the dust just rolls out of my fender wells)...I did do the zoodad mod though and love the combination of AIS and zoodad.

just so i understand if the airfilter is blue and about 6" it is more than likely the AIS intake? i am going to do the zoodad mod. but i have a big cow pusher on the frt. to remove first. i will stay away from the fender sleeve very dusty here in the middle of farming country.
thanks for the info. because i was going to change it to the kwik 6637 thinking it was factory set up. i will forsure keep this set up now.

You've got the AIS filtration system...none better, period. The kwik filter is an excellent filter for very little money...it is what I would probably have if I didn't live in Dustbowl, Nevada. When you do the zoodad, make sure the rubber sheeting is cut back slightly larger than the hole you cut through the header panel....don't ask me how I found out after a year or so!

I just installed an AIS with the fender sleeve and so far I love it. I do feel that it gave the truck a little more pep. I'm also planning on doing the zoodad mod to get maximum airflow. I was a little worried about dust from the fenderwell but I spend most of my time in the northeast where it's not that dusty so I should be OK.

i can see where the finder sleeve would help, but in my part of the world in March and April the dirt blows so bad we have what we call brown outs. sometimes you can't see the car in front of you. so think i better stay away from the sleeve. but i will do the zoodad mod. i just might have to change my filter more often.
one thing i got against fender sleeve is made by private if don't sell good will probly discontinue, when foam breaks down soon left with big hole in air cleaner

your right that is something to consider before you start punching holes. you might want a back up plan.
