Ok. I've read your faq on engine ID. Seems pretty straightforward, except when I look at the engine I see a thermostat housing on the block, and only 7 bolts on head covers. Soooo, is it a 351/M/400 or..........Anything else to look for? The VIN decodes as a 400/4V engine. It has a Holley carb on it and no AIR pump.
Yep, I missed a bolt at the rear. So, I have 8 bolts. Must be the original 400 engine.....I appreciate the help. I've only recently aquired this truck. I have owned Chevy's all my life, so I'm learning. I've got more questions.....I'll post. Thanks again.
Yeah, there is a partial decal. All that I can make out on it are these few details, which I bet are pretty consistent with most decals:
All that I can make out on the left side of tag (the important side) is tht the GAP should be set to .042 -.046. There are a few things left on the left side of tag, but nothing that makes any sense. The right side of tag that details how to set idle, etc is intact, and the big letters NON-CATALYST are visible. Sorry, I forgot to post this info earlier.
