I have a '78 F250 4x4 with the 400 and a NP435. Can anyone tell me if the engine will clear the power brake booster when I go to remove it? It looks tight.
X on on yes, and yes with the trans connected. Complete front clip off by chance? 14 bolts, makes it WAY easier.
Without the transmission connected even more easy.
Thanks for the pics, looks much easier that way. I'm working by myself, so I didn't have someone to help me lift the front clip off. What I did was remove the hood and left fender, then the radiator support. I'll be pulling engine and trans together, I already have the transfer case out. Any tricks to getting the crossmember out? I think I can finish the job without taking that out, but in case I hit a snafu I'd like to hear how other people got theirs out. Thankfully all the bolts came right out, the benefit of a North West truck.
Kinda to late now, cause the engine hoist can be used on the hood and then the complete front clip....Go here, I have posted a walk thru on a front clip removal. Maybe you can at least get some other help or ideas?
The reason to try to keep the front clip together is so come re-installation and realignment time you are not chasing a bunch of gaps. Remember the cowl is a fixed point to work off of. Do not afjust the doors if they were good to go in the 1st place. You got luck on the core support hdrw for sure.
Cross member must be loose and slid full fwd and then rotated or twisted to drop out, I think. Access to the top bolts...make the bottom frame hole a bit larger to allow a extension to get in there.
