72 390 dist. upgrade
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to convert my dist. to the big cap 8 mm wires or do I need a new dist. to go with the cap?I already added the pertronix system and want to go with the high output coil and wires for better performance and mileage.Any ideas are appreciated!

You can use the big cap if you get the extension to hold it from another dizzy. Whatever coil you decide to get stay away from accel. I have had two of them and they suck. I would go MSD.

Thanks Ratsmoker and Tim,I finally found all the parts needed to convert to the big cap and it was an easy swap.The only things I forgot were the plug wire clips and some snap on plugs for the blue top high output coil as the standard coil has the threaded stud and nut wire connections and there is no way to hook the old stuff to the new coil.

Forgot to ask if I need to hook up a full 12 volt power supply to the new ignition setup. I am running a Petronix ignition module with the big cap , high output coil, big wires and platinum plugs.Does the 12 volt hookup give more power ? If so what is the correct way to change the wiring to get 12 volts to the ignition? Thanks
