I'm currently in the stages of rebuilding my 67 Mercury 410 engine,I'm going to use this motor in my pickup for some crusing and a few road trips,I,ve only been able to find one company that offers a complete rebuild kit, and that is Kanter,I,m sure this is probably a good comp.I still would like to see if anybody has an opinion on other places to purchase a kit for this engine because,I,m always looking for the best deal, thanks Farmer
Have you thought about summitracing or maybe PAW? I know it is not a performance engine but they may carry the parts needed to do the rebuild for less. Kanter seems to be a little high on their prices.
I have been looking over most of these magazines, and I know that the parts are avaiable for the rebuild but, I,m also seeing that if I choose the wrong pistons, I,ll be in for more problems then I want.Thats probably my biggest concern, I would really like to get by with out shaving the tops to meet clearance,I just saw where someone recommeds the sterling390 truck pistons from summit any ideas?
You also may want to check out NAPA Auto Parts. I used to manage two of them, and they can source top quality and/or hard to find components for darn near anything on the road.
If you buy most of your engine parts through them, I'm pretty sure the store folks will work with you on discounting the prices.
John, Thanks for bringing up N.A.P.A auto parts store as a location for my search on 410 engine parts, the thought of this store never entered my mind because,I thought they had closed all the stores in my town, until you said something about them. They were able to line me up with a set of 410 pistons for $176.00.I had this same problem a few Yrs. ago on a 66 Fairlane but N.A.P.A CAME THROUGH thanks Steve
Cool! Glad it worked out. Now go have fun doing your rebuild.
