Thank you very much Dave. Looked at the tags and it seems I have the S-47 model. Hopefully it will match up alright with the 3.55 ring and pinion I have on order
I have a zf s5-42 with 4.14, 2.37, 1.42, 1, .77. Acording to my ford service book that is the only option that ford used for the diesels until the s5-47 came out. The gas version is the 5.72 first gear.
i found a 86 6.9 with the p code trans will this work with my 89 zf5 speed do i kneed to change fly wheels what can i use off my engion to get the doner to work
ther is no starter on the 6.9 will the 7.3 one work
thanks i will do that
now i have to get the starter fixed it was damaged when the 7.3 blew a nice hole through the block and oil pan i cant wait to se what came apart in there
tested the 6.9 used ether on it not good! at the worst i think i blew the head gaskets hope fully that is all. any way going to pull it apart and check all the clearance's. does any one know how much a 86 6.9 weighs? so i can build a engine stand strong enough to hold it. will a 7.3 injection pump fit it? I'm thinking i want to use as much of the 89 7.3 parts as possible like the 7.3 glow plugs and pump and injectors that way I'm not changing the wiring on the truck.
thanks j
