cummins-conversions cool site glad im not limited in what i can do with the truck
Yeah, Cummins conversions are cool - the first ten times you see one. Kinda' *******izes the truck tho IMHO.
On the other hand, building a 6.9 (like Dave Sponaugle's) to the point that it will smoke just about any new oil burner on the street - now that is REALLY cool, and rare enough that it NEVER looses its cool factor.
Plus it keeps the truck all FORD - the way it was meant to be

Not really, since the motor is made by international. But, it is keeping it the way it was meant to be. Putting a cummins in a ford would be like the guys with the 32 fords with a 350 chevy. Irritates me.
You can get a cummins in a F-650 and up so why not make your F-250 / F-350 have the same options like the F-650 like Ford should have done in the first place.
has any one come up with a list of donor trucks that have eather ford idi's or cummins in them this would help in finding a replacement to my blown 7.3idi

Duh, REALLY? I guess I should have worded it differently, since we all know the motor was sourced from International. Your statement is therefore more correct, I should have said "it keeps the truck the way Ford intended it to be"

Yeah, or the guys who take a Jeep and put a Chevy smallblock in it. For goodness sakes, at least put an engine from the same manufacturer in there! Chrysler and AMC BOTH made V8s, so that's what belongs in a Jeep (which one depends on what year of Jeep)
the thing i can never fathom is the people that say it is cheaper to do a cummins conversion than replace the 6.9 or 7.3 ????
the adapters alone are between $1800 and $2500, then you still need to source an engine.
i can get a low mileage 7.3 for under $1500 from the salvage yards here.
a cummins 5.9 24 valve runs around $5-6 grand, and that is for a high mileage engine.
