Ok another door lock question

about a month ago I took my truck to ford and had the door locks fixed they replaced all of the actuators except the drivers door now today I go to get into my truck and NO WORKEY again, none of the doors unlock or lock no matter what button I hit.. So my question is does all of the doors go through the drivers door lock actuator, by the way the dealer told me they didn't replace the drivers door cause it was fine.. by the way I have a 2000 X .. Also if I order a new lock actuator for the drivers door (to put in myself) I have read somewhere that I should ask for a different year rather then 2000..

Thank you in Advace for all of your Help

I'd say an '04. You could also take it apart and wrap the resistor w/ aluminum foil. You would need to search for the procedure, it's very time consuming...

I disagree that it is time consuming. I have replaced or fixed 3 doors now. The first door took about 1.5 hours to replace the actuator. I took apart that actuator and repaired it in 30 minutes. The swaping the repaired actuator for a bad one took about 30 minutes (learning curve on how the doors come apart) The last door took 40 minutes to remove the actuator, repair and replace. At least half of the time was spent pulling the door apart so regardless of repair or replace it doesn't matter.

Yamaman if you paid someone to fix it take it back to them and have them fix it again correctly this time.

I changed all 4 of mine, it was fairly simple. If none are working check fuse or relay. The driver side door, if bad, should not effect the others.

well I found the problem there is a short or something in the drivers side lock actuator and after playing with it for a few minutes it blow the fuse so I replaced the fuse and disconnected the drivers door and all works fine now except the drivers door so I will order a new actuator for the drivers door and be done with this problem.. anyone know where to get the actuators other then the dealer..

Everyone's entitled to thier own opinion. It's very time consuming compared to just replacing the entire unit. With a family of five, my personal time has become very limited...

Everyone is entitled to thier own opinion. The great part of these forums are you can get different opinions.

The instructions make the repair sound more difficult than it is. The repair of the actuator is no more than 20 or 30 minutes on the first one and less than 15 on the second one.

I was concerned that it would be difficult but once you get the actuator in your hand the "fix" is pretty easy. I value my time also but my money is also valuable. My less than 1 hour investment saved me 120 bucks. If you have the time and skill to replace the actuator I would not discount the repair.

Did you invent this procedure? It is a fact that replacing the entire unit will save ALOT of time. Drilling holes and fiding screws for proper fitment is not my idea of an easy fix. Removing the actuator from the door is easy, rigging the thing is time consuming. And I'm pretty sure you have a peaceful place of residence.

What's easier to you, rebuiding a motor or buying a new one?

When or where did I say invented the process. Have you done the process? I guess not since I clearly stated 20 or 30 minutes the first time and IMHO that is not ALOT and is not time consuming. I NEVER SAID IT WAS EASIER to pull apart the motor and rig it to work than buying a new one. I did say it wasn't a big job and I disagreed with it being a time consuming job.

Now instead of you wasting your valuable time flaming me with BS like "And I'm pretty sure you have a peaceful place of residence" (WTF does that mean? You know NOTHING about me) go spend some time with your family.
