hello yall. i have a 99 f150 5.4. it recently started to skip or buck when applying the throttle. runs fine at idle and when you give it very little gas but when you press the gas just a little more it does it. the auto parts store said there were no codes and the check engine light is not on. i ran the codes thru the odometer and got 2 things i dont know what they mean. one is code-dt AdFA and the other is PE2 12.7. can yall help. thanks, tom
i cant help with those codes, but the drive problem sounds exactly like when one or more of my coils started to crap out. now one or more has totally failed and i am wiating for new ones from summit racing. i had no codes so i though the tranie was on her way out. then the rear end. still no codes but now its definatly a coil (missfire) problem.
The diagnostic "codes" from the "odometer" cannot give you any useful data from the engine management system.
You have a misfire, just like 2KFORD2K did.
You will either need to press the engine while in the misfire mode to get it to set a CEL and fault code, replace all the coils and plugs, or take it to someone with a scan tool that can read the Mode 6 data and see which cylinder(s) has elevated misfire counts.
i fixed it today yall. the service engine soon light finally came on today, went to oreilly auto parts, where my wife works, put the scanner on it. cylinder #4 misfire, replaced the cop, and problem solved.

I've been really impressed with OBD codes since they became available years ago. With those codes and the help on here, I've been able to fix all my CEL's I've had on my 2000.
On the 2000 over the last 3 years, I've replaced the IAC, thermostat, and now a COP, all due to a code and help on here.
When I tell others about the codes, I find lots of them want to borrow my code reader as they also have CEL's on. That reminds me that I need to take my reader to work tomorrow because my boss wants it. I just got it back from a co-worker just last week.
