Already have the cats off, but it still doestn't work. I even tried rigging it by spraying WD-40 into a small hole in the pipe. No luck, but I shot WD-40 out a good four feet! Anyway, my 351 is in the shop, and it will be carberated, so I'll just have to wait for the flames.
what if you were to fool the O2S into thinking the truck was running lean, which would tell the computer to richen the mix, and without the cats, this may help do the trick.
I forgot to add that the only problem is that it may turn the CEL on, but if you only do it for a short time, it might not. I have not tried this, but if you do, let me know the results, I have an 88 302 F150 4X4, and if it works, I might try it on mine!
Well get a small propane tank (Colman tanks will work) a NOS powershot nitrous silonid or similer.
2 grill igniters hit the propane switch and hit the igniters and bam nice big blue flame. Devilish
I have a 1981 Ford F150 Custom Stepside with a 300 inline 6 with duals branching out the back. It has an automatic Choke with a 4 speed Transmission. Can I hook up the spark plug to my tailpipes (stainless) and get at least a 1 foot flame? Contact me at bhill@durhamregion.com
(I also have no convertor on my truck.)

I'd long forgotten about this post. I'm still gonna put try the flames, just got to get a running tranny first. I scrapped the EFI for a 351W with carb, and manual choke, so the flames should be easy. Probably have to sue the mechanic who burned up my new jasper AOD because he's not holding himself responsible....
LAST EDITED ON 31-May-01 AT 03:30 PM (EST)[p]Way way back when this thread began, go_go mentioned a "flame kit" for $80.
There is more than enough info later in the thread, but I am still curious where exactly he saw a kit advertised.
If anyone knows (web links especially!), it would be appreciated.
Currently, my flames burn off unburned gas from my inneficient engine. What I'd like to do is setup what I've heard is called an 'injection setup'. I need to know what to beware of and how to set it up. Please write with any or (prefferably) all information you think would be of help. I am aware that this process is much less safe because the people I had help me setup the "accessory" I have rigged right now were not willing to show me or give me any help whatsoever as to pulling his off. Thank you in advance.
Hey Peep's. I have a '96 Mustang Cobra and would like to do this to my car. Problem. No one in the world of mustangs knows if this will work on an efi engine. I skimmed over you messages here and didn't see anything on it. If this will work on an efi engine/vehicle please let me know via email. Thanks, Steve

hey efi's will run really rich if you unhook the o2 sensor while running. They did this so if it gets unhooked it don't run really lean and ping really bad. So I guess you could somehow run a switch before the wires get to the computer to temp unhook the sensor to make the engine run rich. Then the flame thing should work.
This is giving me good ideas, could a falme be set-up to work on a diesel? I'd imagine it could, but it probbably wouldn't look to good. Maybe when/if I get my next vehicle I'll look to this forum for ideas on my modifications...
I imagine it would be pretty easy to wire up some electronics kill the O2 sensor, then set-off the spark a couple seconds later.... Actually I think a 1ft flame would be plenty good for me.
i have just read all the messages about the flame thrower exhaust and stuff, and i was just wundering if it would be possible to do this to dual stacks, cause i have always loved the flames and i just thought it would be cool comming out of stacks?
i read like the 2nd post on here it had really good linstructions on how to set up a flame kit for under 5$. I have a 68 f100 360. Can someone please give me really easy instructions for this setup. i have dual exhuast with 18 inch long 3 inch wide tips. What type of wire would i buy. Where do i connect the wire to in the engine... the solenoid next to the battery? how do i insulate the spark plug correctly? do i have to cut holes in my tips... cus if i dont i dont want to.. cus i dont htink it passes inspection like this. Please help me out i dont know that much about electric componets.
