64 F350 has an external parking brake with woven lining that clamps on a hub on the driveshaft right behind the tranny. That's another first for me.
Local parts stores dont carry the lining. My parts guy suggested a clutch/brake rebuilder about an hour and a half away though he said he had the tools to brad it in if I could find the lining.
Any suggestions? Sorry Im so incompetent at finding parts.....
Just checked out yer Gallery. Looks like a solid Truck. What engine is in her? Cab looks to be in a lot better shape than my 66 F350. Have fun with er.
Cab aint terrible....bit of rust around the bottom especially the back corners.
Thanks....I'll start calling.

Dennis Carpenter makes the cab corners also. Cool!!! There is just someting about a Y Block that just rocks me. I hope ya keep it. If not please let me know. Has it got the Ram's horns on it? or the burn yer arm cross over exhaust?

I think it will be mine forever. If you find the thread about where I towed it back from Illinois....I explained it was bought new by my wife's grandfather. Has only lived at one other place in its life.
I'll get it together.....Im just slow. No rams horns...orignal crossover.
I cant seem to find any old truck here. I found a fellow out in New Mexico who specializes in antique brakes who was very nice and said he'd sell me just the lining material and I could rivet in place. He just said he needs dimensions so I'll get that tonight......unless something pops up in the meantime.
No, mine is the one piece woven type. It is 20+" long. I see in the manual there are two different types of linings; one woven and one molded.
I couldn't find word one about any woven type of lining anywhere in Ford truck parts catalogs 1948/72. Have you looked closely...it's possible some one wound woven lining around the existing brake shoes, then riveted it on. The lining in some cases didn't come pre-drilled, and Dodge Trucks 1930's till roughly 1966 (all Mopars, actually) used woven lining. The shoes are 9" each, so 20" isn't far removed, it that's what someone did. btw..the drum type parking brakes were later outlawed for use on cars, one reason you have to back to the 1950's to see a car with this setup.
I wouldnt have known any different if it werent for having already seen it in the Ford manual. Looks like the F350 is the only one that had woven type. The P series all had the moulded ones. Looks like there are three of them needed but the woven one is one piece, 24.63" long. Thickness is different. .156" on mine .250 on P-series. The drum diameter is also slightly different between in the two differing applications 8' on mine vs 7.812" on P-series.
As a side note why were they outlawed? Fire hazard?

Parts Catalog sez:
1961/66 F350 4 Speed ~ 9" X 2" shoes = B9T-2620-A .. Lining Only
1961/66 F350 3 Speed or A/T ~ 18 5/32 Rivet Holes Must be Drilled = EIGHTD-2620 What this is I dunno, there's no other description...could this be the woven lining? No illustration shown in parts catalog.
There no Shoe and Lining set listed for 8*D-2620 (remove the asterisk), but there is for the other application (B9T-2620-A) where one could also buy the shoes with lining on them (C3TZ-2648-A). >> Darn smilies! You can't list 8 D together, otherwise you get a cool smilie.
They were outlawed on passenger cars, because they were ineffective on steep grades.

ND, this one does have 18 rivets. I have a parts list at home and am just getting familiar with using it, but I only see the molded ones listed. I did remember seeing something with the 18 holes and wondering what that was...
I also not the discrepency with my service manual which shows three molded shoes to be needed on the P-series, two 7.89" and one 7.3".
Anyway, I think Im going to move ahead with this fellow I found in New Mexico.
One of the guys at the parts store was telling me about an old car that had an external parking brake.....it was left on and that, coupled with a tranny seal leak, started a fire.
