I am looking at getting a set of gauges for my truck. 99 F350 CC Dually 6-speed. I need some advice about what I should get. What do you all have, and how do you like them. Which brand should I look for. Which gauges should I get, exhaust, boost, what else? What position is easiest to keep an eye them? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
I have a Quad A pillar, Quad overhead, and quad dash suround... The best one to see is the A pillar but the best looking one I think is the overhead...
I had Autometer, but trashed them all and went to Isspro's, much better lighting, and reaction times.
If you would like to see some pic's shoot me a PM with a E-mail and I will send you a bunch...
If i was you, i would get the around the cluster bezel. Gino's garage(one of our sponsers) has them, and go with boost and pyro, since there isnt a trans temp. If i had a 6sp thats what i would do. Im the odd guy here with Autometer sport comp 2, those suckers are bright.
My opinion is they are all about the same, so get whatever make and series you like and/or can afford, after all it is your pickup, you're the one that has to look at them. I actually have 3 different make of gauge in my pickup right now, and there is good and bad things about all of them. One thing I will say is I'd definitely recommend backlit gauges.
I agree that the pillar is good visibility, the underdash location isn't bad either.
Most people get boost, pyro, and transmission temp if they have an automatic, but again the choice is up to you.
I have Dipricols in mine. They match well, and seem to function well, but I agree with the above, get what you like, with any of the big names, you cant go wrong.
I have the DiPricols with the LED back lighting in a quad A-pillar mount. Matches stock gauge pod perfectly:
Still don't have the 4th gauge mounted yet...

I really like that look. Which gauges do you have, like exhaust, boost, or whatever else? If you don't mind me asking. That looks sharp the way it matches. Do you have any problem seeing around the pillar mount?

DiPricol Optix series from ITP (site sponsor). In order from top to bottom, they're trans temp, boost, then EGT. The 4th will be Fuel Pressure or Oil Temp. Can't decide. Since you have a manual, you could do Oil Temp, Fuel Pressure, Boost, and EGT (in whatever order you prefer). I did it that way because I wanted to see the EGT easiest -- for me, it was the third spot down. Then boost, 2nd one down was the next easiest for me to glance at so it's there. The top & bottom ones are the hardest for me to look at while nailing it, so I have tranny temp on top and whatever I decide on the 4th for the bottom...
EDIT: Seeing around it is not an issue at all. Just as easy as before...
I haven't seen the ISSPros installed -- are they green enough? The ones on DieselManor look almost white (even the ones that say they have green bulbs). That's why I went DiPricol because they have green LEDs for backlighting. The reason I ask is that DiPricol doesn't have all the gauges I want yet. After I get fuel pressure, I'd like to add Volts and maybe water temp in the dash. But I'd like them to be as green as the dash and A-pillar gauges. If they're not as green, I'll wait.
