how much diesel kleen

Hi ,I am new to diesels and I understand that the ultra low sulfer diesel I buy needs addatives in order to lubricate the engine in some way.If this is true, how much of this stuff would I use if all i want to do is lubricate. Not really sure if I am interested in the centane boost aspect of it and all that.Does this stuff really work or is this just anouther waste of money.
thanks for the replies in advance

every little bit helps promote happy healthy injectors and some see MPG increases with the cetane boost since it can give a better burn.

.32 oz/gal for 3 cetane boost
.64 oz/gal for 6 cetane boost

I notice smoother running (less cackle) with the 6

I usually just dump in about a 1/3 of the regular size 32-oz bottle, eyeballing it.

That's about what I use on a 30 gal fill up, Ryan -- 10 or 11 ounces (~3 point cetane bump). I usually buy the big jug, though. I have one of those funnels with a valve in the bottom with a tube and ounce marks on the side. Works great at the pump. I then run a squirt or two of diesel through it to get the rest of the DK out of the funnel...

I typically charge in a full 16oz bottle with every fillup, each fillup typically being about 19-24 gallons.

I typically eyeball it and use an 1/2 an ounce for every gallon I fill up. Of course, that's just guessing on how much fuel I need based on where my fuel gauge sits. I buy the big bottles, but use a smaller container for measuring that I've pre-marked with ounce readings when I fill up. I just keep it in the toolbox. I typically err on the side of too much DK though, which isn't a problem since I'm just below the max reccomended amount anyway.

I do the same. I've done it in almost every tank for the past two years.

I bought a 16oz tupperware cup that has a large screw-on lid, and a small pop off cap. I fill it, then the pop off cap pours nice and clean into the fill tube. I however only use 16oz for a 55 gal tank. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt ot use a lot more though.

I have tried Lexan bottles and aluminum fuel bottles, both of which were near disasters. The lexan started cracking under the lid after only 3 weeks, and the aluminum bottle was the cheap one that has the pressed in threaded insert which came loose after installing the cap - made a devil of a time getting the cap off to use the DK. I went ahead and bought (higher price) 3 16 ounce DK bottles, used the DK, and now refill those from the larger 98 ounce jugs. Never get confused about what's in the bottles because they are DK bottles. Always have enough on hand, too.

I tried it for the first time in May and went for the 6 cetane boost and it helped the mpg, plus a little more quiet. With the increased MPG, it more than paid for itself.

I use 2 ounces for every 3 gallons of diesel. This gives the 6 cetane boost.
If you buy 21 gal, divide by 3 which is 7 and multiply by 2 for 14 ounces of DK.
Works for me.....

I do the same. I also got a small plastic pail and put all three of the small bottles in it. Just in case there is a little spill or a big spill the DK ends up in the plastic pail and not all over the bottom of my tool box.
