My 94 4x4,302, auto, is a dog. Love the truck though. Have a K&N and a cat back. 2 mpg more and a little more power but not the power gain I wanted. The tranny shifts smoother for some reason and I really like that.
1. Can a chip help performance without the jerky shift.
Also the truck is a california 94. They have mass air when most others do not. I can stomp on the gas and there is about two seconds of noise before the truck limps out of it's own way. this is from a dead stop or moving at 20-40 mph down the road.
2. Most chip mfgs. want the existing part number of the chip in the truck now and I believe that I will get an equally cruddy chip with that p/n. I have heard of a few people getting no gain for their investment and am convinced that they had a truck like mine with the 94 mass air calif junk computer. Is what I suspect true and can your chip bypass this missmatch.

If your truck is a F150, the code will be on the computer itself. Your computer is located on the drivers side kick panel. The computer code will be something like A2Z2, or similar.....letter, number, letter, number. Your code may be specific to Ca. vehicles, but, this is what we use to program with. If you can get me the code, I can tell you if it is Ca. specific.
The chip will add 20 horsepower and 30 ft./lb. of torque and will make the transmission shift a bit smoother. You would need to use premium fuel with the addition of a chip. Your mileage will, at best, go up 1, maybe but unlikely 2 mpg. Gived me a call for further info at 1-877-399-6417.
Thanks
Danny
Jim: There is no chip in your truck now. We use the diagnostic port to plug a programmed chip into. Your computer will then run with the program on the chip instead of the program in your computer. The code you get from your computer only tells me what parameters I can change and how much I can change them.
Thanks
Danny
Thanks Danny. I'll give you a call today if I have time. But You know ,I haven't pulled the kick panel all the way off but have popped the bottom off and looked behind there. I couldn't see everything but could see about 75% and only saw the mechanilal linkages to the parking brake and the hood latch. Just where behind there is it. Upper left, lower left right in the middle? Thanks again.

I have a question ergarding the Speed Density system currently on my truck. I am planning on installing a Crane compu-cam 190/198 @.050, will this adversly affect the performance of a chip, or will it benefit more. I am relatively new to the whole chip thing, but I do want some extra power out of this little truck.
