Speed density & Chips?

I am thinking of changing camshafts in my 88 F-150 in the future. The cam I plan on installing is a Crane Compu-Cam, that runs 190/198 @.050".

My question is this, will the combination of the chip and the cam send my computer into fits? I am also planning to add some underdrive pulleys, an MSD 6A box, and a Airaid Throttle body spacer.

I did forget to add that I'm using a 91 model computer with an 87 model wiring harness.

Thanks for your help.

1988 F-150 Custom to XLT Lariat conversion, 5.0 EFI (formerly 300 I6), 5-speed M5OD, 3.08 rear gears (will be upgraded to 3.55's), Summit headers, Flowmaster muffler W/ dual 3.5" tips 24" long.

Pioneer CD, AC, Tilt, Cruise, Mobile Radio, Lightbar (Force 4 LP6000), Federal Signal PA300 Siren W/100W Siren Speaker. Caution Customizing in progress, Watch for flying tools & Parts!

Hotrod: We would need to write a custom program for the addition of the camshaft. The only other mod that would require any special programming is the gear change. We would correct your speedometer. There is a one-time charge of $100.00
for a custom program. There is only one charge to program for all of your modifications. The charge would be added to the price of the chip and normally takes about 2 weeks to write. Your pulleys, airraid, nor any of your other mods would require any program changes.

LAST EDITED ON 26-Oct-00 AT 07:27 PM (EST)[p]Danny,

I appreciate the help, as of now I am reconsidering my cam Idea. I have decided to stick with the stock cam. As for the Speedometer Recal, I thought all I needed was to change the gear at the end of the cable. I think mine is before all the computer controls were added to the instrument cluster.

But, if I just added the Airaid, and pulleys I wouldn't have to have a new program written?

I really appreciate the help.

Kyle

Kyle: You are correct about changing the gear on the end of the speedo cable to correct the speedo. With the addition of an airraid and the pulleys, you would not require any special programming. A standard chip would suit your truck fine.
Thanks
Danny

Speed density & Chips?

Thank you very much Danny,

I really appreciate your help, since you know about the power of chips and computers.

The reason I am want to add the chip is to get some more power out of my truck, it's kind of weak on the power side right now, even though I just gave it a tune up no more than 2 months ago.

I will place an order as soon as I can lay my hands on some "spare" cash. Which I hardly ever have.
