The shim is on the bolt side between the bolt head and the flywheel. And no it will not go in to gear when the truck is running. When you start the truck in gear with the pedal depressed, the truck moves when starting.

did you get the single mass flywheel? in case you don't know what that means... is the flywheel solid or does it have springs in it?

did you torque down the bolts on the pressure plate and did you make sure the clutch was in the correct direction... it is stamped on the clutch disc which way it goes. i think the metal piece on the clutch is tapered on one end

replace your slave and master. alot of times when you switch to the solid flywheel, the new clutch is alot stronger than the old one and your hydraulics are usually just as old. your not getting full release because the fluid is passing by the seals internally. replace the slave and master and you will be good to go. look at my web site for proper bleeding instructions. if you pump the pedal it will be a long day trying to bleed them. let me know if you have any questions

why would you have to change out the master also? i would think that if the fluid is passing by the seals internally then the master should be good and you could get away with just replacing the slave.

Changed the master and slave cylinders today and im pretty sure i got them bleed out good. I blead them until the slave cylinder got real hard to push. It shifts better but the pedal is still not very hard and the clutch grabs right off the floor.
