I have a 1963 Ford F100 Uni and its got a 302 in it with a 4 barrel holley carb and when ever i really push on the gas pedal or higher rev it when im driving it kida bogs down and im not sure if it is not giving enough gas or giving too much. So any ideas what could be causing this would be helpfull. Plus im not sure but could timming cause this too.
Timing could be an issue. But I would ask how big a carb and intake does it have? Does it have headers? Ya can over carb a 302 pretty easily. And it's got to be able to let the fuel/air mix out as free as it's coming in.
What's the timing set at? Ya know ta check it with the vacuum advance disconnected and the hose plugged. If timing is not the issue than it has to be over carbed and flooding it's self out.
Ah! Heck! I just reread yer first post. Ya got a clogged fuel filter or line.
Im not sure, i just got the truck running not to long ago it runs and everthing but i have not timed it with the timming gun yet so do you think that could cause the problem. And im not sure about the fuel filter or line ill have to go and check all of that.
What should the timming be at for a 302 with a cam and everthing cause it is set advanceds 12-13 degrees. and currently it dose not have a fuel filter on it. What else could be wrong with the carb.
With no filter the carb is plugged from sediment there may be out of the tank. Are ya sure there is no Filter? Some are in a cup on the bottom of the pump. Is the tank behind the seat? Is there a small steel filter where the line meets the carb? If not you will need to clean the carb by rebuilding it. Or replace it. Timing sounds Ok. You may be able to dismantle the carb and clean it. But ya need ta know what you are doing. Follow the fuel line all the way to the tank looking for a filter. And be sure there is not one on the fuel pump. Putting a system together without a filter just don't make sense.
I just looked at yer Gallery. If that is the engine we are talking about than it will flood out with to much fuel. That is way to much carb and manifold for a 302 street engine. How long have ya had this and has it ever ran right?
Dont worry i dont have that set up any more, i just baught the truck that way but i took all that stuff off and put a single 4 barel on it, i knew that was way to much carb for a 302. But i baught this truck for 200 bucks and it inclueds another intake and carb so i got 3 holley carbs with is and to intakes. But i got it running better now ive been working on it for a bit and now i think i got it figured out. But thanks for your help.
I could not find any filters except the one that is in the carb, where the gas enters the carb there is a little filter in there and it was cloged. So i took it out and cleaned it up and now its much better.
If you guys want to see more pics of my truck. You can look it up on car domain, im not sure if any of you guys ever go on there but thats where i have some more pics of it just look up 1963 Ford F100 im sure that there is only one on there.
