OK I've tried to use the search function on here but either got too much or not on problem info. I've got a stripped out 6mm hex hole drain plug on my HCFM. I know I'll have to get a peplacement (IH part, if old post info are still the way to go), but I have to drain it now. Any quick/better solutions like welding a nut to the brass plug? Is that even possible? F-350 still running OK but water in fuel light illuminates when roundong left hand turns. Would like to solve situation. Thanks in advance for replys.
Given that you've stripped out the hex part, and you are going to get a replacement IH plug, when the replacement arrives, try JB welding in a hex wrench to remove the stripped original.
Have fun w/ the "easy-out" drilling due to the location of the plug. Once its out you'll love the new IH part that has the extended plug that can be hand tightened and yet still retain the hex. It also "holds itself" in the HFCM when removed instead of falling into the drain pan.
I have heard of many people using JB weld to attach the 6mm hex wrench to the plug and then removing it like DesertDave suggested. I would suggest that as well.

Take it to the dealer, the hfcm WIF sensor is bad. It is possible it never got upgraded to the new hfcm without the heater. I had an 03 and had 3 changed out, same simptoms, WIF turning corners. The last one they installed was the new one without the heater. Never had a problem again. Just draining it is not going to stop the light from coming on.
Could you, probably. But is it really that good of an idea to be welding on something that contains a flammable liquid, even if it is just for a second? Just try the JB weld.
