I under stand how a egr works.
My question is on one of the trucks i look after has a 6.0lL
in it. For the first 100k it had no problems. Now it seems like the egr builds up carbon and sticks opean about every 10,000k.Ive replaced the egr.Does this truck need to be reprogramed,is the fuel pump/injectors wearing out.Is there a carbon clean that can be done?I need to know soon becouse this truck is running out of waranty.Does anyone have any ideas.
Thanks Kerry
well unless you have an extended warranty over 100k then that truck is already out of warranty. but maybe using some diesel kleen additive would help? good luck.

If the EGR valve is coking up that quickly something is definitely not operating properly, could be injectors, blow by, etc. Since you are still within your 160k warranty, take it in and let the dealer tech troubleshoot it for you.
Does this truck idle alot, have the operating characteristics of this truck changed recently?
Two options for you is clean it yourself and perform the mod that deletes its use. You shut off the truck and unplug it, it stays in the closed position. If your having lag problems please try a product from a sponser here. Weve used it on our 6.0 and 7.3 and it works great to remove the soot and carbon buildup you now have in your injectors and oil gallies. http://campaigns.ford-trucks.net/cam...s&bannerid=427
Thanks for the replys.Yes the truck has waranty ontill 160k on the engine. That will be the next step is to take it into the dealership. The idleing was the first thing i asked about and has the same driver from new.The truck does mostly highway miles.
