I have a 1996 Ford Explorer XLT, V8, AWD. I am being told that I need to replace the DPFE Sensor (some people also call this part the EGR Position Sensor). My problem is, I dont know where this part is located on my vehicle.
Can anyone help me, and tell me where this part is on my car, and is it an easy replacement ? Do I also need to replace the EGR VALVE Position Sensor ?
Thanks for your help. I have always taken my cars to the mechanic in the past, but if this is an easy replacement, I would like to try it myself, since I am now retired, and partial disabled. Every savings helps. Why pay the mechanic, if I dont have to..............
I replaced mine before on the '96 that we used to own and it is very simple to replace. Quicklook2 is right though about using the Ford part. It has been updated. You also may want to remove the 2 hoses and check them to be sure that they are not stopped up, they are bad about that but pay close attention to where they go and which port that they are on so you can put it back.
