I have a 2000 F-250 superduty 5.4 automatic. I am checking into adding a chip. I want to know what chip would be best and how much do they run? We tow sometimes as much as 4 tons. How should the chip help? Thanks for any help. Star
The chip will add 27hp and 35 ft/lb torque. That will help a bit with your towing. The transmission should shift a bit smoother also. You will, however, need to run premium fuel . Check the online store here for pricing.
Thanks
Danny
Danny, Will I get any better gas mileage? Do I have to run premium all the time or only when towing? Have you ever heard of the Hypertech chip? Is it any good? How easy are these things to install? Sorry so many questions. Thanks for all your help.

Star: Don't expect much change with the fuel mileage. The hp gains are derived from timing changes for the premium, therefore, your truck will produce less hp and might ping and rattle on regular fuel. With Superchips and Diablo, we run the fuel a bit richer using the ecu for fuel control. As far as I can remember, Hyper??? uses a colder thermostat to fool the ecu into thinking that the truck is running cold, therefore richening the fuel mixture. The chips are very easy to install. But, again, don't expect fuel mileage gains from anybodies "Performance Chips" in a gas burner.
Thanks
