back pressure sensor question.

I had a short in the wire harness that fried the sensor and killed the truck. The harness is fixed and the sensor is disconnected while the new one gets here from ebay. Is this going to do anything to the engine being disconnected? I am assuming that the performance will be greatly diminished.

Mine has been capped off to read ambient air pressure for over a year now. No problems.
