I have a 1998 f150 with a 4.2l engine, 2wd with 128,000 kms, Check engine light came on and scanner indicates codes P1151 and p1152. I realize they are o2 codes but I am reluctant to think both sensors are bad at the same time, also the sensors were replaced at around 120,000 km's. Any other possible causes of these codes would be appreciated. Thanks in advance..
over fill engine oil? exhaust leak before O2? vacum leak? air leak after maf? bad/poor electric connections? bad fuel?
p1151 is trying to correct " sensor indicating lean at the end of a test is trying to correct for an over-rich condition"
p1152 is Lack of switching, sensor indicates rich, Bank 2.
honestly it sounds like an egr issue. you need a good scanner to see what the problem is but unless the O2 sensor is unhooked its probably the egr f'ing up.
check all the connections if you can first.
I reset the codes, didn't get a chance to do any more than a visual inspection. I'll check the connections and test the sensor with my multimeter and go from there, worst case will be a trip to the dealer..got the pinpoint diagnostic routines so I should be able to trouble shoot it. Just looking for the easiest way out, thanks for your help.
