Your light switch has 4 positions, if i'm not mistaking... all the way turned to left, is daylight running lights, move one position to the right is off position, one more to right is parking lights, then last to right is headlights, pull switch out for fog lights.
Hope this is info your needing, if it's an electrical thing in the wiring, then I am not the person to answer your question.

Question

Well on my '06 all the way to the left is auto light mode which allows them to turn on and off based on the ambient light available. There are no running lights at all.

I believe the Canadian trucks come with the daytime running lights and the U.S. trucks don't.

You might try looking to see if there is a dedicated fuse for DRL (daytime running lights) and take it out. That is all I did on my GMC truck that had them but my f-250 doesn't have them so I am not 100% sure.

Look and see if it was an aftermarket module. If so, then pull inline fuse. If it was a factory setup (fleet or Canadian) then there may be instructions in manual. If not, try dedicated fuse in your fuse panel

All Canadian vechicles must have daytime running lights by law. If you have key on to any position of power the running lights will come on. When you select light switch ON for night driving the daytime running lights go out. The rear tail lights do not come on when running lights are on. The daytime running headlights operate at a lower candle power that regular headlights in the ON position.

When a used US owned vechicle is sold into Canada, Border Customs require running lights. Many shops are set up to do the simple conversion.

I strongly support the running lights. I noticed in US safety corriders that headlights are recommended. Why not have running lights during the day with no tail lights so braking can be seen better during the day when brakes applies. The running lights in Canada has reduced the head on collisions when passing vechicles in daylight.

Day Lights

My truck is a 2006 350 superduty , I think the truck would be consider fleet as it was orignally cab and chassis , wheather it's Canadian built or not I am not sure , the light switch on it is a old style pull out , there is no extra click for a auto mode , the running lights don't come on with the day time running lights which is the first problem why I don't like them is that so many times I am driving home and as it gets dark the headlights are already on and you don't realize that the tail lights are not until it gets dark enough for you to see the dash board is not lite up , the second is a let my truck run atlot while parked , it gets very hot here in New Orleans and I let the A/C run while I am out the truck , the lights stay on and I am tired out of people telling me my lights are on

The U.S. did that a long time ago for motorcycles. Some studies have shown that while it works for a while, the human brain gets used to it and the benefit diminishes. Here in CA we have sections of the most dangerous highways where DRL is required/recommended (not sure the signs have the force of law). Maybe it works on those sections because it is special.

It does seem to still help with MC's and it would worry me that if all vehicles were required to have DRL that any benefit for bikes would be lessened. And our scooter buddies need all the help they can get.

Just my $.02

I have a 2002 CC LB 4x4 PSD that has the 4 position switch. Auto-Off-Parking lights-Headlights. (pull-out for fog lights) I to did not like the DRL's and pulled the appropriate fuse in the panel below the steering column. In my truck it is fuse #14, a 15 amp blue fuse. See pics in my gallery for illustration. Sorry-Couldn't figure out how to add picks to the message

Was your truck built in Canada? How is it that you have DRLs on an 02? I have autolamp on my 06, but no DRLs. Maybe I missed something . MLC2

It's a canadian. Came into Canada, had to have the instrument cluster swapped when the original buyer changed his mind and it was shipped to the US. I do like the autolamp feature, but not the DRL's.

Turn off DRL's while PARKED

I am in Canada and have DRL's as required. When parked, and when I don't want the DRL's on while doing so, I simply apply the emergency brake, and the DRL's turn off..

Found this info on another site.

The DRL connector has 8 pins for the following:

# 1 - High beam indicator lamp
#2 - Fused run only feed
#3 - Brake warning indicator lamp
#4 - Fused, hot at all times
#5 - not used
#6 - Parking brake on input
#7 - Low beam output
#8 - Pulsed voltage to high beams

The jumper used when a DRL is not plugged-in jumps pins 1 & 8
together, and 3 & 6 together.

Also with the proper plug-in DRL module and correct wiring harness
there is no "headlight wiring to put back the way it was" just
unplugged the module and plug the jumper cap back in.
