Hey guys I was wondering about day time running lights. I know alot of the newer vehicales have them but I also see some of your trucks had daytime running light modules. My question is can someone put the module into there trucks and get daytime running lights or is there more involved? Mind you I could be completly wrong and or have bad information
I don't think these trucks came with the option. But if you wanted to put them in, just ad in a relay that is switched from ignition power... I'd still put a switch somewhere in the cab though.
I thought I saw it in a drawing off lmc or something and i thought it would be pretty nice and a good saftey feature but you know do I really want the hassle?
Canadia models had them standard. I think and this is a big think....any Ford module from the same era will work. Now to make it work, lay in the ground and look up behind the bumper on the drivers side, somewhere near the radiator support mount is a pig tail with I think 3 wires and a plug in it. That is the plug for Daytime Running Lights. Pull the plug out of the pigtail and plug in your DRL module. I also think it realy isn't a module, just a small plug that jumpers a couple of the wires together, VS the plastic plug in there now that just keeps dirt out.
I personally hate DRL and never did it to my trucks but I know that is what the plug is for.
Delco makes a Universal DRL module. We used them on E450 handicap buses we serviced.
Lol leave it to GM to make a universal DRL module. Guess that's all they could do after the government failed to grant them their wish of requiring DRL's on all US vehicles by any manufacturer.
