Yea Carl; glad to hear that you and the pooch are safe.

We very rarely ever have lightning over here.

Just an occasional tremor.

Did Sassy jump onto your lap, or did you jump onto Sassy?

Just saw this this morning Carl.

Glad you and sassy are safe.

I have hadmy hiuse hit by Lightning Once. I was in LA Califorina at the time.
It hit a CB antenna and shattered it into a million pieces.

Later that month I found pieces of it 2 blocks from my house.

The othewr close call was when I was pouring concrete inside the fence of a power substation.

The storm got closer and I was getting anxious telling the workers to hurry up.

A few minutes later The lightning hit a power line about 400 ft away and created a 16 ft fireball.

Too bad it can't be harnessed and used in a good way

Glad to hear you are OK! I hope the tree survives also.

My property was hit 5 times in one year. The first hit destroyed interior wiring and everything electrical or electronic in my entire house as well as blowing out the 12" dia limb at the top of a tree. The lightning blew several holes in the walls, destroyed a bug light hanging in the tree (but saved the tree itself). There was a 12" deep crater in the lawn under the bug light. I was at home at the time and able to put out the single fire that was started in my stereo. The other hits were in other trees or power lines. The power line hits took out a few more electronic devices as well as damaged the power lines. All the trees survived although one smoldered for a few hours before we put it out.

As a kid I was blown thru my front screen door by a strike on a cottonwood tree over 150' away. That tree was completely destroyed.

Carl, Glad to hear you and pig/dog are ok. Locust trees are just like lightning.
They break and fall without a moments notice. BTW tell Sassy I said hi, and hope she didn't get too ascared.

Sassy probably heard the lightning strike buildup before you did.

Animals do have a keen sense of those kinds of stuff.

Where abouts in NY are you ??? I spent 2 days down in Deposit last year with my fire department and 5 others from my county helping out with pumping basements from the flooding of the Deleware caused by the Cannonsville Resevoir.
