Wierd one

Well here is a wierd one. I have a 2000 F150 4.6 M50D with 45K on it and occasionally when I go to start it it just cranks and cranks with no start. Go back later and it starts and run purfect. No check engine light and no codes. Completely stock and runs like new usually. Has anyone ever had this happen? By the by just for a little more data, it does sit most of the time. It generally just gets moved once a week for the street sweeper.

sounds to me like a fuel problem. i'm sure a tech will chime in, but as its sitting maybe the fuel in the lines either drains back into the tank, or evaporates. try turning the key to the on/start position and let it sit for a 1/2 minute or so, allowing the pump to run, then try starting it. i might be blowing smoke here, but its worth a try...

Well it's been a couple of days and it has been starting and running fine. Maybe it was upset that I don't drive it very much. Not surprised since I usually drive my beat up 73 Chevy around town.
