2001 Ford Supercrew Chip
I have a 2001 Ford Supercrew with a 5.4L with 62K miles. I have a 3" body lift and am running 285/75/16's with 10 Inch rims on it. I have a K&N Filter as the only other mod to it. I live in Austin, TX and can find 93 octane gas. I am looking for a chip for this truck. I found a guy on e-bay that has a Superchip for $100 that is supposed to be for my truck. The current computer code is ERR0.
First of all, is this the correct chip?
Second of all, is the chip worth buying if I have to have it re-flashed?
Thirdly, where do I find the computer code for my truck? I have looked on the Firewall which is where Superchip tells you it is located. I found a code on my front passenger door jamb that is UAT3. Could this be my code?
Fourthly, With that many miles on my truck will anything negative happen by installing the chip?
Lastly, will I have to change anything because of the bigger tire size?
Thanks for your help!!
>First of all, is this the correct chip?
The chips are interchangeable. Just need to get them reflashed if the codes don't match. Some really old Superchips can't be reflashed with a newer program because the EEPROM was smaller, but that only applies to EEC-IV era.

Yes. You'll save $$$.
>I found a code on my front passenger

Yes, that's it. UAT is a fairly common code.
>Fourthly, With that many miles on my truck will anything

None. The chip will not effect longevity. Abusing the truck, chipped or unchipped, will effect it.
>Lastly, will I have to change anything because of the bigger

If you want the shift points changed and the speed calibrated, yes.
My current speedometer is almost dead on even with the slightly bigger tires. As far as shift points go, if the company that is going to re-flash the chip knows all of my data, will it be right when I get it, or will I have to re-install it and test it out. What I want to avoid is having to have it re-flashed numerous times because of $$$.
Thanks again for your help.
