i came home last night in a hurry and didn't let my turbo cool down like i usually do. (stock motor, wasn't driving that hard, EGT shouldn't have been to high)
anyway 5 mins later i went back outside to leave and it wouldn't start. it wouldn't even fire. i tried cranking it 10-20 times over the space of a half hour. it never fired once. no smoke, nothing. the fuel pump was running and i checked all the fluids, everything was fine. finally after an hour of messing with it i got mad and gave it just a wiff of ether. which got it to fire and then start. it has restarted since then 5-6 times with no problem. but it kinda bothers me. i don't want to be stranded. its still under warranty but if i can't get it to do it again how will the dealer be able to diagnose it?
anybody have any ideas?
by the way the tach never moved, but i'm not sure it ever does.
can anybody recomend a good dealer in the dayton, ohio area????
HPOP is loosing its seal. I had the same problem with my truck 2 months ago. Except I couldn't get it started again. It will not deliver fuel if the pressure is less than 500 psi. You must have shocked it when you gave it the ether. I know it is running now but it will do this again if you don't bring it in. There is a TSB for the Diesel techs to replace the o-ring and install a mounting bracket that will eliminate the vibration that the HPOP recieves.
HPOP or a leak in the system would be my guess as well. Usually they wont start when there hot, but once it cools all the way down it will. So thats probly what happend. THe ether might not have even been what started it.
