I did my F150 about three weeks ago just in time to trade it in for an '06 4x4 F350CC Lariat V10. As I had never done it before, it took me about 20 minutes to figure out the first side and about 2 seconds for the second. The 5.4 in the 150 went from 12 to 14+ mpg. Supposedly the dealer did the new truck, but I always have my doubts about car dealers and will change it out later this week. The tool was a Lisle from Pep Boys and was about $10 but has 6-8 different sizes.
Just make sure you don't have any residual fuel line pressure - I let the truck sit overnight and only had a bit in the filter drool out. I then drained it into a clear bottle to see what was in it - black sludge
