I have a '95 F-250 and it has been cutting in and out when I stop at a red light or stop sign it sounds like it aint getting enough fuel. It started after I fueled up so I thought maybe I got some bad diesel. But I ran that tank through and filled up again and still had the same problem so I changed fuel filters and then fuel pump and now it is still doing the same thing so Im thinking now it might be a bad glowplug, does this sound right?
no bad glow plugs will only cause hard cold starts. Does the truck completely quit or just studder. Either way I would replace the Cam sensor (CPS). They are now very cheap and if it not the problem you have a spare for when, not if, it goes out. The new cheap CPS is designed for the 97-03 truck but it will work in all the 94.5 to 03 trucks. That is unless you really want to spend over $100 on a CPS rather than $15. here's a link http://catalog.powerstrokeshop.com/p...catalogid=3660
or you might be able to get one at your local ford dealer at about $25. But you need to go in with the part number from the link otherwise the dealer will give you a hard time. Don't tell them it for a 95 either cause they will swear up and down this one won't work.
The link says not to put the dielectric grease on the metal connectors. I thought that was what it was for. I did put it on the connectors because i heard that the '96 may have different metal in the harness connector compared to what's in the cps, so i thought this might increase connectivity and decrease any corrosion. Should i be worried?
I replaced teh cps and it still hasnt made any difference. What will a clogged injector do? It's only done this to me twice but after sitten a day I cranked it and went down the road and it just lost all power. Had the gas pedal pushed to the floor other wise it would die and I wasnt going anywhere till it caught up with itself and also had a ton a WHITE\GREY smoke from exhuast. Does this make since to anyone?
Next thing to check all all four valve cover connectors that go to the injectors. Unplug each of them. Check for loose connectors, loose pins and burned pins.
Ive done that already, I cranked the truck and then started with one and unplugged it and then plugged it back in and on all of them when I would unplug the wire it would just make it run worse.
Maybe it's the EBPV. It's a 2 wire connector located under the turbo housing on the driver side. It's used to aid warm up in cold weather by restriction the exhaust flow. You don't need it unless you live in the arctic. Leave it unplugged.
You can check the fuel pressure your self. On the side of the fuel filter canister there is a schrader valve (tire valve stem). It can be checked with a tire pressure gauge in a pinch but be ready for fuel to spray. Pressure should be between 40-70 but really more like 50-70. here is pic to show its location http://good-times.webshots.com/photo...99659029QDJYXr
