Thanks to Kenny for the pictures as his flareside became the model. This rendering is done by Nick Crouch of Surface. What we are looking at doing C4 Corvette IFS and IRS on air, either the 460 bb or Twin Turboed Boss 302 matted to a 4L60E controlled by a paddle shifter. 255 fronts and 305 rear Nitto tires on Boze Forged Shifters with satin black centers, and a few body mods. Tell me what you think.
I like the fact that you left the wing windows in, rather than going to one piece glass, makes it cool looking in my opinion.
I like also that the grill / front end is still "Ford" enough looking to get a good idea of what you started with. So many extremly modded vehicles loose that.
call me old fashion but I have neve understood why someone would want a truck to be so low to the ground. How do you keep from ripping the body panels off when you go over bumps or uneven pavment. I have a buddy with a lowered ranger looked ok I guess but he ruined it at the local walmart after going over a speed bump. Will it have hydralics?? I like to climb up in a truck not lay down and roll into it. To each his own I guess.
Well, in actuality it won't be this low. Like I've said, the artist comes from the that scene and therefore put a low rider influence into it. It will be lower than stock obviously due to the corvette suspension and a tad bit lower when parked due to the air ride technologies Shockwaves replacing the normal coilovers. No hydralics, this is for go and a little show.
Another idea that was suggested was positioning the front turnsignals in behind the grill and using the stock location as a point for ducts to cool the brakes while autocrossing.

Rear view will be next, patience.
I took this as a design concept rendering, not a actual street legal truck, which is why my comments were made in reguards to some of the styling cues that you left in. I still say, nice job!
If you take this as a real street truck, then, well as mentioned it is a little low, but then I see that no one made any mention of no windshield wipers. I am sure, if it comes off of paper into a real truck, then there wil be design compromises to be made, as there always are in the custom truck arena.
I guess I looked outside the box so to speak on this one. I looked at it as a show or concept vehicle. I still say very nice job, I look forward to seeing a rear 3/4 view.
I would also vote to leave the turn signals, it really retains that 80-86 look that I like.
David, good eye regarding the wipers. Did you also notice no side mirrors? You are right. This is just that....something to see what a couple of ideas would look like in a general composite fashion.
For the rear we have approached by a custom machine shop who would like to build some one off tail lights in the place of the originals. I was hoping to recess them into the fenders, but we'll see how hard that will be given the limits of extra fenders available to us.
Looks great although I also don't go for the large rims and low profile tires. You might consider Corvette C4 tail lights in those rear fiberglass fenders (they have a square look mimicking the front lights) & smoothing the bed sides.
don't smooth the bed sides, these were the only good lookin' stepsides made, save the '66 body style chevy. as long as it's no lower than say a ford focus. this is an american truck, keep it that way, take the wing off the back, leave the door handles on it, and chrome or alluminum wheels, but not black ones. some sporty lookin side mirrors would look good. what's the interior gonna look like, hopefully resembling the factory as far as contours, and no plasma screen junk.

Wow, kind of takes the fun out of "customizing" don't you think?
If I could get mine to sit this low, I would. Great rendering and I can even see my old pickup in the picture.
I love the front bumper treatment and the blacked out grill. If you were to go futher, I think you need a custom hood, something not normally see on a pickup. I have a skinned 95 Mustang hood the is fitted and ready to weld onto mine when i get a few minutes. Another thought that would look sweet would be the dual scooped hood from an early 70's Merc Montego (I was looking hard for one of these), the lines would look right and the squarness would match the body.
Again...sweet! Hope you make it a reality. I am glad my pictures helped.

I would like to be a harda$$ and say it's not growing on me, but the dual pipes in front of the rear tire are pretty sweet, and the fact that the step is gone. I still wouldn't smooth the bed sides, but mine has the stake pockets filled in and looks good, still hate the wing, wonder what it would look like in grabber green, or daytona yellow. them buckets look good too.
