When the ignition is turned over, it does crank... just sounds like it is starved for fuel.
Listened for the fuel pump whine when turning the key and nothing... checked the fuse (#34; 20 amp fuse) and it is okay. Does this mean the fuel pump died??? Or could there be a sensor that is no good, cutting power to the fuel pump??
I noticed the fuel pumps are pretty high $$$.... just wondering if anyone else has had a problem that is similar???
Go in the back and reset the inertia switch. Its in the rear of the vehicle on the drivers side.remove the plastic cover and look inside for the red rubber push button.
If the truck turns over but doesn't start it might be the Idle air control valve (IAC or ICV). This happened to my truck a couple of months ago. Next time you try and start the truck pump the gas pedal like an old carburated engine. If it starts that would be my best guess and cheapest guess. ICV around $50.
Check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail at the schrader valve. Connect a fuel pressure gauge to that fitting and when you turn the key on you should get about 30 psi of pressure. If you get pressure then you know your fuel pump is ok.
These guys helped me here thru all these steps also, it turned out to be the fuel pump had your same symptoms. It finally died one day 35 miles from home. So if you have done the IAC and the fuel filter and such, I am betting on the pump.
